It's Spring Baiting Time!
27 August 2018
Landholders are urged to book in early when ordering pest control baits from Central Tablelands Local Land Services – and importantly, not to forget your legal obligation to give at least three days’ notice to properties that boundaries are within a one kilometre distance of the baiting location.
Farmers routinely bait for feral pests such as wild pigs and wild dogs in spring, but 1080 and Pindone laced baits can only be supplied through the Local Land Services.
Central Tablelands Local Land Services has just announced preferred times for landholders to book the collection of baits for this year’s pest management programs:
Cowra Wednesdays: 2.30 – 5:00 pm
Phone Kellie Arnall - 02 6341 9320 or 0419 489 529
Mudgee Mondays and Fridays
Phone Brendon Stubbs
- 02 6378 1702 or 0428 721862
Bathurst Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays: 8.30 – 11:00 am
Phone the Bathurst Local Land Services office – 02 6333 2300
Molong Tuesdays and Thursdays: 8.30am – 11:00 am
Phone Col Somerset - 0428 710 003, Scott Sullivan - 0428 710001
or the Molong Local Land Services office - 6366 8505
Landholders should order baits at least three days prior to their planned pick up date, and critically neighbours must be given at least three days notice before any baits are laid on your property.
“Remember to bring your Chemical Card accreditation when picking up baits, and call ahead to ensure a Biosecurity Office will be available to help when you arrive,” advised Colleen Farrow, Acting Team Leader for Invasive Species and Plant Health with Central Tablelands Local Land Services.
“Preparing baits is just one of the many jobs a Biosecurity Officer carries out, so contacting your officer and nominating a suitable time to pick up your baits will ensure they are available to help you,” said Colleen.
“Although the days and times we have nominated are preferred, Biosecurity Officers will work with landholders to arrange alternative times if necessary.”
