Central Tablelands Local Land Services working to help smaller farms get smarter

Central Tablelands Local Land Services recognises this is a highly diverse agricultural region.  Many landholders live away from their farm, are new to owning land or don’t get their primary source of income from the land.

A new project Smaller Smarter Farms is designed to assist these landholders to ensure their meeting the demands of managing a property through better knowledge of agriculture and the environment.

To kick off the program Land Services Officer Kate McCarthy is holding an information seminar for new and absentee landholders or for those who own smaller lots.

The seminar will focus on livestock management, pasture management, biosecurity and natural resources.

The seminar will provide an overview for landholders who are interested in learning more about the requirements of looking after their land, managing their pests and weeds as well as requirements for keeping livestock such as horses, sheep and cattle.

Central Tablelands Local Land Services will also be conducting a survey to assist in the planning of additional workshops and seminars. These additional workshops and seminars are scheduled to be run in the new year.

The seminar will be held on Thursday 20th December at the Bathurst Harness Racing Club from 6pm. People interested in attending are advised to contact Land Services Officer Kate McCarthy to register to attend.
