New General Manager for Central Tablelands
10 May 2017
Central Tablelands Local Land Services has welcomed the commencement last week of new General Manager, Ms Chris Cumming.
Central Tablelands Local Land Services Board Chair, Ian Rogan said Chris brings to her new role a wealth of knowledge and experience in land management and working with rural communities.
“Chris’s past experience and enthusiasm in a variety of roles demonstrate her commitment to working with ratepayers and stakeholders to continually improve the health and productivity of agricultural industries across our region,” Ian said.
“Having been a farmer herself for some 30 years, Chris has a strong understanding of the needs of Local Land Services customers and the challenges they face in balancing profitability and sustainable farm management.”
Chris Cumming comes to Central Tablelands Local Land Services after a career in land management with the Victorian and NSW governments, as well as in the private and not for profit sector.
Chris will be applying her skills in business and organisational management, land management, strategy and collaborative delivery to the goal of improving outcomes for local and regional communities.
Having initially joined Local Land Services in 2014 in the Murray Region, Chris has worked through the challenges of establishing Local Land Services as a new organisation.
She will bring her experience and enthusiasm to her new role in further developing quality services for customers on the Central Tablelands while driving ongoing improvement in delivery.
“I’m very familiar with the depth of dedication and skill our Local Land Services staff have to offer our customers and the broader community,” Chris said.
“I’m committed to ensuring we work closely with community organisations, landholders and other partners and stakeholders to support primary industries and our natural environment.
“I’m also looking forward to reconnecting with community representatives I have encountered in various roles over the years, as well as establishing new relationships and understandings.”
The commencement of Chris Cumming as new General Manager coincides with a time of renewal for the organisation, with elections currently underway for ratepayer selected representatives, and the recent announcement of Ministerially appointed board members.
“The local board provides oversight and governance of Central Tablelands Local Land Services to ensure that our regional services remain viable, relevant and effective," Chris said.
“These local representatives provide a critical conduit between Local Land Services and the landholders we serve, helping to identify and deliver services that are relevant to local needs.
“I urge Local Land Services ratepayers to have their say in the upcoming election of locally elected board representatives before polls close on 31 May."
All enrolled ratepayers who have supplied an email address have been emailed instructions for online voting. Ballot papers have been posted to all other enrolled voters. Enrolled landholders can vote at www.austelect.com/local-land-services.
