Mudgee Field Days

Central Tablelands Local Land Services has a lot to talk about at the Mudgee Small Farm Field Days, including information on our upcoming round of incentives, agricultural advice and livestock demonstrations. Come and see us at the Local Land Services display at Site 548 and find out more about funding projects and services the organisation provides.

Our District Vets and Biosecurity Officers will be available to discuss the Biosecurity Act which came into effect on 1 July 2017. They can also answer questions about the prevention and treatment of livestock diseases, farm biosecurity, and requirements for the movement of stock in NSW. They will also be able to answer your questions surrounding the new industry-driven approach to Bovine Johne’s Disease.

We will also have staff on hand to talk to landholders on the new land management framework and biodiversity reforms which will come into effect from 25 August 2017. Information will also be available on the 2017 incentive funding opportunities for landholders in the Central Tablelands from July 24. Landholders are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the funding opportunities prior to the 24th so they are ready to submit their application. Funding availability is limited with applications to be assessed on receipt until all funds are committed.

Funding will be targeted towards remnant woodland conservation, native grasslands and revegetation activities, property planning, groundcover management, the protection of threatened species, and the restoration and protection of creeks and rivers.

Livestock specialist, Senior Land Services Officer Brett Littler, will assist with queries about livestock health, nutrition, and trading. Clare Edwards, pasture specialist, will be on site to answer questions about pastures and grass identification. If you have a plant species you would like identified, you are welcome to bring it along (carefully sealed in a plastic bag) to our stand for identification.

We will have plenty of displays including traps for pigs and wild dogs, information on pest animal control, bait site preparation and pest monitoring techniques, as well as a feature display of native eucalyptus varieties from the Mudgee area.

A special feature of the Local Land Services exhibit at the Mudgee Field Days will be a series of practical livestock demonstrations on Friday 14 July:
