Kids Teaching Kids

Central Tablelands and Central West Local Land Services has partnered with the nationally recognised Kids Teaching Kids organisation for the past five years to deliver conferences in rural NSW that encourage practice change at the grass roots level.

Kids Teaching Kids is an education model that uses local environmental issues as a theme for learning. The Kids Teaching Kids learning model encourages students to work with a mentor (an expert in their chosen topic of study) to increase their knowledge and skills. Many schools have developed an ongoing relationship with their mentors and are continuing their environmental learning and completing on ground works within their schools and local communities.

Kids Teaching Kids aims to inspire future environmental leaders.

Enviro-Stories is an education program that inspires local literacy by helping to connect students with their local environment (such as a farm, bushland, school, community, the list is endless) and then supporting the writing of a narrative that will engage and/or educate other students. Through a competition process, students strive for the honour of getting their book published.

The Enviro-Stories education program has been running successfully within the Central West and Central Tablelands regions for several years.  This unique program provides the opportunity for students to learn about their local environments and create stories that will allow sharing for future generations.
