Sheep health - focus at the Australian National Field Days

Central Tablelands Local Land Services is honing in on sheep health at the Australian National Field Days coming up at Borenore, west of Orange from Thursday 20 – Saturday 22 October, 2016.

At site C19-23, Local Land Services will hold daily demonstrations on managing rams for joining, checking for footrot, scoring sheep body condition, and testing for worms and selecting the right drench for your flock.

District vets, Amy Masters and Kate Peffer, and Biosecurity Officer, Col Somerset will be on hand along with other Local Land Services staff to field questions from landholders.

“Our demonstrations will present straightforward basic information, skills and knowledge that producers can utilise with their own flocks,” said Amy Masters.

“We’ll also be available throughout the field days to answer queries about specific on farm issues and we’re looking forward to meeting local producers.”

Visitors have an extra incentive to visit the Local Land Services site, with a chance to go into the draw for a $500 camping goods gift voucher, on offer when you call in to meet the Local Land Services team.

The Tablelands Telegraph is the Central Tablelands Local Land Services monthly e-newsletter which provides information about workshops, field days, training, funding opportunities and seasonal advice. Everyone who subscribes to the online Tablelands Telegraph while they’re at the field day site will be added to the $500 gift voucher competition.

Information on soil health and pastures, water, biosecurity and cultural heritage will also be on display, as well as advice on pest animal management.

Additionally, Central Tablelands Local Land Services is looking for feedback from the public on where to plant vegetation corridors to support local wildlife.

“We’ll have corridor maps on display at our field day site, and we’d like people to have their say about where they think vegetation corridors should be located,” said Richard Carter, Agriculture & Natural Resource Services Manager.

“Central Tablelands Local Land Services wants your ideas about how best to protect wildlife in our region. We’re inviting you to look at our proposal and draw where you think we should invest to protect our fauna.”

Come and see us at the Local Land Services display at Site C19-23 from Thursday 20 – Saturday 22 October at the Australian National Field Days, and find out more about the vast array of services the organisation has on offer to local landholders.
