Pre-harvest botrytis management
Heavy rainfall and humid conditions have been experienced across Australian grape growing regions recently. Such conditions greatly increase the risk of Botrytis and other bunch rots. Areas where grapes have already reached veraison are at greatest risk.
This fact sheet provides an excellent overview of the options for managing Botrytis in the lead up to harvest. Key considerations include:
- Monitoring disease levels and weather forecasts
- Considering spray options in terms of both possible coverage and resistance management
- Canopy management to reduce humidity in the fruit zone
- Harvest timing and consultation with grape buyers
